The Greater Chicago Fil-Am Golf Council came into being for the sole purpose of providing a mechanism by which all its component golf clubs can share common interests, provide support to one another, enhance the image of the Fil-Am golfers and the Fil-Am community in general and to promote the sport of golf in the Fil-Am community.  It strives to enhance cooperative ventures among all its component clubs and to help coordinate and disseminate information about various club-sponsored activities as exemplified by the annual Philippine Independence Day golf tournament, the FLOG-sponsored Outreach Golf Tournament, the Tamaraw GC-sponsored Caloy Galvez Memorial Tournament to benefit PKU research and the PGC-sponsored Bataan Golf Tournament for the medical indigents in the province of Bataan. 

Last year saw the emergence of the all-ladies league, the Phil-SWinG Golf Club headed by the indomitable and charming Clarita Reuer with the assistance of Grace Dysico and Maria "Girlie" Pascual.  Phil-SWinG stands for Philippine Society of Women in Golf.  It even has its own website to enhance communication, participation and camaraderie among its members (www.philswing.com/).  GCFAGC wishes them, "Happy Golfing!" and continued success in all their ventures. By the way, belated congratulations to Clarita for scoring her first "hole-in-one" ever earlier this month. 

Dateline: June 30, 2011  Kudos and a big thank you to the Phil-Am Eagles GC's Gary Belano, Manny Palma and other club leaders for a truly wonderful and very successful PIDGT 2011.  It was a well attended event and everything went without any major hitch.  Gary and Manny showed great organizational skills in getting this annual tournament to another very successful fruition.  One can view the tournament results and the many photos taken during the PIDGT 2011 by clicking HERE.
